Elenaut
Created by: Tim Sutcliffe
Location: The National Space Centre
Overview
Inspired by Leicester’s ties to the solar system and beyond, this design imagines the sculpture as the first elephant in space. Galactic adventurer Elenaut is in a retro-futuristic space suit complete with all the tubes, switches, gauges and buttons she will need for exploring the universe. To add to the futuristic nature of the design, Tim also used AI to provide inspiration to the detail.

Meet the Artist
Tim Sutcliffe
Tim Sutcliffe is an artist, illustrator and art director and works on a range of art based projects in different styles and mediums from sculpture to Photoshop. He has designed and painted sculptures for many art trails and his living room feels strangely empty when it isn’t filled with a huge fibre glass animal and scattered with tubes of paint. Although his day job is mostly digital work he loves the opportunity to use real paints and work without the safety net of an ‘undo’ button!
