Overview
Flora & Fauna is a celebration of the wildlife of Leicestershire. The artist, Sara Budzik, took inspiration from family visits to Bradgate Park, and the different creatures and plants they encountered on each trip, as part of her mission to make art which promotes respect for other species.
The colour scheme pays homage to the blue and white ceramics that Sara has always loved.
The fox is also nod to LCFC’s mascot.

Meet the Artist
Sara Budzik
I’ve loved nature and animals all my life. I’m on a mission to make art that promotes understanding and respect for other species. I believe that celebrating nature will encourage people to consider their relationship with other creatures and the environment. People tend to protect what they love, I hope to foster love for all creatures, especially the wildlife in our direct environments, to encourage people to protect the natural/wild spaces in their locality.
I trained in Fine Art, with a degree from Bretton Hall & Masters from The Surrey Institute, Farnham. I taught art & design in various settings for most of my career and started experimenting with ceramics after having children. I now teach adults pottery in Rutland alongside making, exhibiting & selling ceramic sculpture. I make textural, impressionistic sculptures exploring ideas around speciesism, the natural world and climate change.
