Overview

Legionary Maximus is proud to welcome you to the roman town of Ratae Corieltauvorum – Roman Leicester. Maybe you’ve come to take a bath or do some shopping in the Forum or the new Market hall? Maximus is happy to show you around. This sculpture is the work of artist Karis Youngman who says: “I love telling and creating stories and characters, and like it best when they can make you smile.”

Karis Youngman

I am a traditional artist, who loves fantasy, comics, children’s literature and reading.
I love telling and creating stories and characters, and like it best when they can make you smile.

I have created several book covers for various publishers, greetings cards, graphic novels as well as illustrated books examples like for Pen and Sword publishing:  Dark side of Alice in Wonderland, Weird and Wonderful Story of Gin and Dark side of Jane Austen.

I have taken part in other art trails:

• Cows about Cambridge trail 2021 with; Wandering Lions Cow,
• Go Go Discover for Norfolk 2022 with mammoth: Mammoth on Holiday.
• The Big hoot Ipswich 2022 with 2 owls: Parliament of Owls and Merlyn the Chief Wiz-owl.
• Herd in the city 2023 for South end on sea elephant: All our Yesterdays  

I am also a die-hard bookworm, who is always drawing with a cup of tea!
