Overview

This design is a huge reproduction of a hand drawn map of the centre of Leicester created by artist Rose Allinson. It includes details on buildings and interesting facts, creating a stunning visual history of the city.

Rose says: “It’s the finer details that excite me: wandering around Leicester, looking up at the buildings, and finding out who, when and where led me to creating this map. Hopefully it will help people learn more about the history of their city.”

Meet the Artist

Rose Allinson

Having drawn, and “made” for as long as I can remember, I always have some project on the go: whether it is a piece of jewellery, a pen and ink drawing, or preparing for one of the many classes I teach. Having obtained a degree and MA in jewellery, it’s the finer details that excite me: wandering around Leicester, looking up at the buildings, and finding out who, when and where led me to creating this map of Leicester. To see it covering a huge elephant would be wonderful, and hopefully educate some about the history of their city.
